Paint Peeling Off Walls In Sheets Plaster

Peeling from plaster could be a result of insufficient wet troweling of the white coat when the plaster was originally applied causing chalking of the surface.

And the walls are holding up but flaking off to the point where it s just not salvageable. Make sure to remove all peeling or flaking areas until the wall and ceiling only. Use a sponge to scrub the area of paint around your bare plaster. Scrape off anything that is loose.

1 for peeling paint. Let the soapy solution set on your wall for 5 to 10 minutes before removing with clean water. A putty knife or paint scraper works well at removing the paint if you carefully move it along the loose edges. Apply masking tape around doors and windows and above baseboards to protect these.

Prime the affected areas then patch any damage. Let your wall dry thoroughly. This may have been a factor but it didn t damage the paint. The paint in the living room is also doing the same which i m guessing has been there for about 2 years previous owners job.
